The Portuguese Way: day 7 - The Power of Positive Thought

Distance travelled today: 18 miles on foot.

day 7: Tui to Veigadãna

After yesterday's comedy of errors, and the weather forecast promising rain all day, it would have been easy to book a B&B and have a day off - I think we both thought about it.

We had to set an alarm for 6am (not very 'us') so that we could return to our original albergue and collect our backpacks and phones. One positive that came from this was that we saw our first sunrise, and with that I decided that this was going to be a good day.

So here are all the things that made us feel thankful today:

♥️ we saw the sunrise.

♥️ There are some very kind people, to whom we are very grateful. Thank you America, and here is a free advert for your cafe

♥️ Thank you also to the lady who runs the Albergue Buen Camino in Tui, for returning to work 'out of hours' and sorting us out with a bed for the night and breakfast.

♥️ There were no cobbles today.

♥️ Tony bought a new pair of trainers and his feet are very grateful (although the budget is now blown).

♥️ It was quite nice walking in the rain.

♥️ The part of the trail by the river was truly beautiful.

♥️ We met a crazy pair of spanish ladies wearing bin bags who made us laugh.

♥️ No new blisters!

♥️ We had a lovely pilgrim meal at Restaurante O Carreteiro in Porriño: 2 courses plus wine and coffee for just €12.50 - and they gave us extra wine for free

♥️ We found a Lidl and could buy shampoo, wine and chocolate.

♥️ We found an albergue with beds (and we are not going out tonight) 🤣

♥️ Only 100km to go to Santiago de Compostela.

♥️ At 6pm the sun came out ☀️ so we had a glass of vino outside to celebrate all the things we have to be thankful for 🥂
